Ah, Wriothesley. The Cryo powerhouse. If you’re here, you probably know what a pain it is trying to get the most out of this guy. But don’t worry, I’ve got your back. Wriothesley’s playstyle is a lot like my 2019 attempt at learning to bake—there’s trial, error, and a whole lot of experimenting to figure out what works best. And when it clicks, it’s like finding the perfect recipe. So, let’s break down the best ways to build him, stack those artifacts, and make sure your team comps aren’t falling apart like that loaf of sourdough I left in the oven for two hours (RIP, Gary).

    Who the Heck is Wriothesley?

Wriothesley is a Cryo character who can do more than just freeze your enemies (and possibly your own fingers on the controller in frustration). He’s got that mix of style and power that makes him one of the most flexible characters in the game. I’ll be honest, my first impression of him was like “okay, another guy with a sword who does ice stuff”—but after diving into his abilities, I get it. The boy’s got range. Cryo damage, elemental reactions, and a handy burst skill? Sign me up.

The thing about Wriothesley is that he’s all about adaptability. Whether you’re looking to freeze foes or melt them (not in a “here, have some nice tea” kind of way, more of a “they’re frozen and now we’re hitting them with fire” thing), he can handle it. But like I said, it’s all about knowing which tools to grab from his chest of tricks.

Why Should You Care About Wriothesley?

Listen, when I first pulled Wriothesley, I wasn’t exactly doing cartwheels. I didn’t know his potential. But after throwing him into a few random team comps and experimenting, I realized how he can totally change the game. Imagine taking your basic Cryo setup and adding an extra layer of fun. Wriothesley makes freezing and applying elemental reactions smoother than the homemade ice cream I failed to make last summer.

Anyway, the point is: you should care about him because he’s not just another Cryo character. He’s got a twist that makes him versatile.

    Best Wriothesley Build

Alright, let’s get into the nitty-gritty. You don’t just want to throw any old artifacts on him. Nah, nah—Wriothesley’s gotta be treated like fine art (or, well, at least like your grandmother’s good china). So, let’s break it down.

    Role in Combat

Wriothesley can do it all—DPS, Sub-DPS, Cryo support. It’s kind of like having a Swiss Army knife, except this knife can freeze people, trigger elemental reactions, and still look good doing it. Whether you want him as your main damage dealer or a solid support piece who knows when to dish out some extra power, he can do it.

Here’s a pro tip: Wriothesley’s elemental skill is your bread and butter. Using it right means you can apply Cryo effects to enemies quick. Which, trust me, sets up a world of pain for whoever you’re fighting. Or, if you’re really feeling chaotic, you can just unleash his burst to turn the battlefield into an icy wasteland (in a good way).

    Weapon Choices for Wriothesley

Picking the right weapon? Oh boy, it’s like picking out jeans that fit well (impossible, sometimes). But here’s the lowdown on the best weapons for Wriothesley.

    5-Star Weapons:

    • The Summit Shaper (Sword): This one’s a top-tier choice for Wriothesley. It boosts attack damage and even increases his defense. Honestly, if you wanna make him the centerpiece of your team, this sword will do the job.
    • The Black Sword (Sword): If you like crits and healing (I do), then the Black Sword is your buddy. Not only does it boost crit damage, but it also heals you when you land a crit. This one’s for the players who wanna be as aggressive as they are sustainable.

    4-Star Weapons:

    • The Iron Sting (Sword): This one’s for the elemental reaction junkies out there. With its bonus to elemental mastery, it makes Wriothesley even deadlier when triggering reactions like Freeze or Superconduct.
    • Festering Desire (Sword): If you’re looking to amp up Wriothesley’s elemental skill and reaction damage, this sword is a solid pick. It gives that extra boost where it matters.

    Best Artifacts for Wriothesley

Wriothesley’s gotta look the part too, right? Let’s get into his artifact setup, because trust me, you won’t want to slap any old set on him. It’s all about optimizing his damage and making sure he’s not just standing around looking pretty.

    Blizzard Strayer Set

The Blizzard Strayer set is a total game-changer for Wriothesley. If you want him to take full advantage of his Cryo damage, this set is your best friend.

    • 2-Piece Bonus: +15% Cryo damage. Simple, effective, and everything you want.
    • 4-Piece Bonus: Increases crit rate against frozen or Cryo-affected enemies by 20%. Plus, it reduces their defense. No complaints here.

This set boosts his Cryo damage to the moon, making him a deadly ice wizard who can freeze and shatter at will.

    Noblesse Oblige Set

If you’re focusing on his burst abilities, the Noblesse Oblige set is worth considering. It amps up his elemental burst damage and supports the team, all while making him the burst damage king he’s meant to be.

    • 2-Piece Bonus: +20% elemental burst damage. Period.
    • 4-Piece Bonus: Increases the attack of all nearby allies after using an elemental burst. Kinda like sharing the love, but with extra damage.

Main Stats You Should Care About

    • Sands: Attack Percentage or Energy Recharge. You want him to hit hard or use his abilities fast. Your call.
    • Goblet of Eonothem: Cryo Damage Bonus. If you’re not going Cryo here, we need to talk.
    • Circlet of Logos: Crit Rate or Crit Damage. Pick one. Your DPS will thank you.

Secondary stats? Look for Crit Rate, Crit Damage, and Attack Percentage. Or, you know, throw in Elemental Mastery if you feel like causing some chaos with reactions.

    Best Team Comps for Wriothesley

Wriothesley’s all about synergy. You gotta build a team that complements his abilities and lets him go wild with those elemental reactions. Here’s the secret sauce.

    1. Freeze Comp Team

My go-to. Wriothesley, in his natural state, loves freezing enemies like it’s his job. Combine him with Hydro characters and bam—you’ve got a Freeze comp.

    Wriothesley (Main DPS):

Your Cryo powerhouse who freezes enemies and sets up reactions. The job’s yours, bud.

    Mona (Sub-DPS):

Mona’s the Hydro queen here. Use her to set up those frozen moments, giving Wriothesley a playground.

    Kazuha (Support):

Kazuha spreads elements like wildfire. His Anemo abilities make Wriothesley’s reactions even better by lowering enemy resistances.

    Fischl (Support):

Fischl’s Electro damage helps trigger reactions like Superconduct, which isn’t just fun—it’s a huge DPS boost.

This team is a pure elemental reaction party. You’re constantly freezing, triggering, and just blowing enemies away with Cryo-based carnage.

    2. Melt Comp Team

If you want to get a little more spicy, go for a Melt comp. Combine Wriothesley’s Cryo skills with Pyro characters to unleash crazy damage.

    Wriothesley (Main DPS):

Freeze, melt, and do all the things with Pyro buddies.

    Xiangling (Sub-DPS):

Xiangling’s Pyronado is perfect for this—set it and forget it. Except for the massive damage it does. Never forget that.

    Bennett (Support):

Bennett’s elemental burst is like a lifeline—heals and boosts attack. Wriothesley will love that extra damage boost.

    Zhongli (Shield):

Zhongli’s shields are impenetrable. Which means you can focus on offense while your enemies struggle to break through.

    3. Superconduct Comp Team

If you’re feeling extra and want to reduce physical resistance, Superconduct is the way to go.

    Wriothesley (Main DPS):

Cryo abilities reduce physical resistance and deal with it.

    Razor (Sub-DPS):

With his crazy physical damage, Razor’s gonna make use of that Superconduct reaction big time.

    Albedo (Sub-DPS):

Albedo adds Geo damage and his ability to trigger Superconduct just makes Wriothesley’s Cryo hits all the more powerful.

    Xingqiu (Support):

Xingqiu’s Hydro application sets up extra reactions and deals with the Cryo overload. Teamwork makes the dream work.

    Wriothesley’s Playstyle

Okay, so now you’ve got the gear and the team. But what about how to play this guy? Well, you’re not just mashing buttons. Wriothesley requires some finesse. Timing is everything. His elemental skill is where the magic happens. You need to freeze, apply reactions, and do it quickly.

And hey—sometimes, you just need to back out, let your support characters take over, and wait for the next burst moment. It’s all about finding your rhythm. And trust me, when you hit that rhythm, it’s like a symphony of elemental explosions.

    Energy Recharge: A Quick Note

Wriothesley’s elemental burst is where he shines. So, make sure he’s not sitting around waiting for energy. Energy recharge artifacts are essential if you want his abilities up at all times. After all, you want to be spamming those bursts like it’s nobody’s business.

    Anyway, Here’s the Kicker…

Wriothesley is a powerhouse, but only if you put in the effort to fine-tune his build and team. It’s like tuning a guitar—one wrong string, and the whole thing sounds off. So, take the time, choose your weapons and artifacts wisely, and build a team that complements his strengths. And when he clicks? You’ll feel like a Cryo god.

And hey, I’ll be honest—I didn’t get it right the first time. But once I did? 10/10 would recommend.
